Guest accommodations consist of 40 Thai-style pavilions and 30 private Villa Homes set within a mature coconut plantation and connected by elevated walkways. First mentioned by Ptolemy in the 2nd century, Phuket was a regular port of call for Arab and Chinese ships. Portuguese and Chinese settlements began to appear in the 18th century, and until the middle of the 19th century, tigers and elephants wandered freely in local jungles.
